Mr. Peter Stewart, superintendent for KB Home’s Rancho Del Lago community, proudly shares how Levven Controls saved $500, impressed a colleague, and prevented the need for a time-consuming repair that would have delayed the delivery of a home.
To prepare a home for possession, Peter was dealing with a request to have the sliding door panels changed. The customer wanted the sliding door opening moved to the other side.
The door company service technician held the opinion that reversing the door opening would be a very expensive proposition because the switch operating the exterior light would also need to be moved.
“Maybe it’s best to leave the door the way it is,” the technician commented. He pointed out that the electrical contractor would need to come back to run a longer wire and move the switch. The sheetrock contractor would need to come back to do some repairs. The painter would need to return repair and finish the wall. He estimated the total cost of the door opening change would be upwards of 500 dollars and a three-day delay.
Peter knew that the Levven Controls switch beside the door was not dependent on wire inside the wall. No electrician would be required for this change order.
“I’ll have the switch moved before you can get those panels out,” he boasted to the door technician. The technician laughed out loud and went about his work to start moving the first door panel.
Peter removed the switch’s cover plate, then took out the two screws that were securing the Levven wire-free switch on the wall. He moved the switch to the other side of the door, mounted it on the wall, and reinstalled the cover plate.
Peter was finished with the switch. He interrupted the door technician, who was still removing the first door panel. Peter showed him the switch was already moved to the other side of the door. They had a good laugh and talked about the amazing wire-free switches used in this KB Home.
