New Energy-Efficient Concrete Home Completed with Levven

Smart controls make homes more affordable to build, purchase, and operate. A new luxury home recently completed in Edmonton’s beautiful Mill Creek Ravine is one such case.

The owner of this custom concrete home wanted to eliminate the cost and complexity of installing pipe and wire inside the concrete walls.

Wired switch locations would have increased the cost of construction, but Levven two-component electrical controls are installed without the need for wire in the wall. This cost-saving capability matched perfectly with the owner’s aspirations. Smart control, automation, and configuration for all of the lights and electrical controls in the home was enabled when a Levven Q gateway was installed after the home was completed. The Levven Q device allows Levven’s smart home mobile app to access the home’s switches and power controllers.

Although Levven did not design the Q to cover large homes built with concrete and steel, they learned how to stretch the ability of the Q gateway to give the homeowner the result he wanted. From the very beginning, this home was meant to be highly energy efficient. The 5,500 square foot precast concrete house has four levels, solar panels with Tesla powerwall storage, six bedrooms, six bathrooms, and a two-car heated garage with an EV vehicle-charging station.

The smart automation features that Levven controls make possible conserve energy and avoid excess electrical usage.

Edmonton realtor Shane Gwilliam describes the home as a “one-of-a-kind property, built with durability and sustainability in mind.”

“This is a future heritage house,” says Gwilliam. “It’s extremely overengineered, so it will be standing for hundreds and hundreds of years.”

The homeowner, Mr. Robert Weinrich, himself a veteran construction executive, is exceedingly pleased with how Levven is controlling the power in his home. “It’s working great. I love the simplicity of the app.”

“I would definitely recommend and use Levven products on my next build, and any build I may do in the future.”

As Levven switches can be mounted and relocated without cutting holes in the wall, future owners can add or move switches without costly demolition or difficult wiring.

Today, this beautiful estate home – nestled in a quiet, one-of-a-kind location in Edmonton – is currently listed for sale at Concierge Auctions.
